These earrings are handmade in my workshop, which makes each pair unique. Sculpted with a single thread, each loop is like a mini sculpture, the clasp becoming one with the jewel. This loop, which might seem simple at first glance, is revealed as sculptural by the central twist of the wire which gives it an architectural look and creates beautiful plays of light.
Their name "Ø” is a nod to two people who have influenced my way of life and my work. Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe aka Torun is this woman, a very real goddess, who came from Sweden to the village of Biot on the French Riviera in 1958 where she trained several people including my great uncle, Denis Essayie, in the profession of goldsmith. She passed on to him her love of silver wire, a sculptural jewel of high quality but affordable and above all timeless. She is one of the major figures of international modernist jewelry. During my childhood, it was by observing the man who had named his workshop Dønis that this desire to sculpt and live freely developed in me.
Exist i two sizes :
- Small : diameter 3 cm, weight 2 grams per earring
- Large : diameter 4 cm, weight 4 grams per earring
